The gentleman in this portrait, John Bodger was one of the chief founders of Peterborough Museum. He owned a Pharmacy in Cowgate in Peterborough. This portrait was painted as a memorial to the lifelong service he gave to the museum.

Margaret Lindsey Williams was a distinguished artist born in Wales. She trained at the Royal Academy and won several medals and prizes for her work. During her career she completed portraits of many notable people.
