Linton was born at Diddington/St Neots, Huntingdonshire, on 20th January 1840 and was married on 11th January 1877 to Mary Louisa, 2nd daughter of the Reverend Robert Henry Gatty, of The Manor House, Buckden, Huntingdonshire. He died at Stirtloe House, Buckden, on 17th December 1911.
