Dr Heath practised at the Caversham Group Practice in Kentish Town, London. Editorial adviser to British Medical Journal (1993–2001) and a regular contributor to the British Medical Journal in a personal capacity. She was a Member of the Royal Commissions on Long Term Care for the Elderly (1997–1999) and Human Genetics (2004–2007). Her book 'Matters of Life and Death' was published in 2007. The image is digitally compiled from two photographs. Dr Heath is wearing Presidential gown and chain with pendant. Heath was reluctant to have a formal painted or photographic portrait. A screenprint ('good enough for Andy Warhol or Marilyn Monroe') appealed as appropriate for the digital age. The head is from a photograph taken by the President’s husband, while the image of the body was professionally taken, to show off new Presidential gown.
