This painting depicts the King in front of the Regiment's Headquarters at the Tower of London, wearing his Regimental Dress Uniform, which is on display at the Museum. Interestingly, the artist served with the Royal Fusiliers during the First World War and was awarded the Military Cross. He was a favourite portrait painter of the royal family and also painted pictures for Winston Churchill, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Andrew Mellon and J. P. Morgan.
