George Davis Hornblower is depicted with a few pieces from his collection, some of which are now at the Royal Cornwall Museum. Hornblower was at one time an official in the Egyptian Ministry of the Interior where he became interested in Egyptology; he was also interested in Anthropology which strongly influenced his work on Predynastic Egypt and Egyptian religion. He wrote a number of articles on Predynastic subjects such as 'Funerary Designs on Predynastic Jars' and Foundations of Ancient Egyptian Religion'. During the Second World War he took up residence at the Mount's Bay Hotel in Penzance and over the years gave many Egyptian and other objects to the Royal Cornwall Museum. By the time of his death the museum had acquired Egyptian amulets, small tools, games, weights, household objects, pottery, animal, figures of animals, gods and goddesses.
