This piece was a gift to Shaw from Rodin in 1906; thence among Shaw's possessions at Shaw’s Corner, photographed there by Shaw throughout the 1920s and 1930s. The house and contents of Shaw's Corner were bequeathed to the National Trust by George Bernard Shaw in 1950, together with Shaw's photographic archive.
