A group of three large sculptural human heads placed up on round-based plinths in a triangle. The heads are reminiscent of three different eras of human and industrial production. The solid, smooth metal head recalls early metalworking in the North of England, the rusted angular, geometric head refers to the later advances in industry, and the openwork head made of welded steel rods resonates with the modern digital age. Generation was previously displayed at the entrance to the former One North East headquarters at Newburn Riverside. Joseph Hillier, the sculptor, is a Newcastle University Fine Art graduate.
