The statue is located in a circular pool in the centre of the Winter Garden attached to the University. The white marble figure and base are set on a separate slab of grey marble, which stands on an oval dark grey marble plinth. This has four cartouches, two of which are inscribed with scallop shells above them. Four bronze birds, standing on tortoises or turtles, are arranged around the plinth with their wings outstretched against the marble. Beneath this is a pink marble slab standing on a stone base, which holds the structure out of the water.
