Folding fan, the leaves on both sides emblazoned with woodcut prints incorporating oak leaves, acorns, crown jewels and, weaving between the patriotic motives, banners inscribed the Hapy (sic) Restoration. In the immediate aftermath of the Restoration, all manner of commemorative wares were available for purchase – fans included. The person carrying and presenting this fan publicly was doing so not simply for practical reasons but rather to make a visual declaration of their support for the returning monarchy.
