An Asian elephant depicted 'seated' on its hind legs, its back covered with a tassled cloth.
Presented to ZSL by the London department store Liberty in 1992. The marble elephant was carved in India and weighs four and a half tons. The store imported it to display in their shop, but it was too heavy for the floor loading. It was exhibited in the Barclay Court area at London Zoo from 1992–2001 when it was moved to the south entrance of the Casson Pavilion. It was then taken to Whipsnade Zoo in 2006 where it remains on exhibition in the Zoo next to the Elephant House.
