Victoria Crowe studied at Kingston School of Art and the Royal College of Art, London, before moving to Scotland in 1968. For 30 years she taught Drawing & Painting at Edinburgh College of Art whilst continuing to develop her own artistic practice.

While the full range of her work covers landscape, still lifes, portraits, self-portraits and interiors, much of her art defies such precise categorisation.

In the early 1990s, Crowe spent time in Italy and became greatly influenced by the Renaissance art and architecture of cities such as Venice. She was intrigued as much by the decay of these place as she was by their grandeur and beauty and tried to capture their fragile surfaces and textures in her delicate observational drawings.
