Located outside the main building of Kirkwall Grammar School, this curved wall-like sculpture is constructed from blocks of Orkney and red sandstone mixed with flagstone, and topped with large flat flagstones. It descends in height to a fieldstone (also sandstone) carved with the hand-print of the youngest child in the school. At the high end of the wall are three black spheres in greenheart timber salvaged from a pier. These refer to Neolithic stone balls found in Orkney. Buried in the heart of the dyke is a slate-built time capsule containing one item from each department in the school. The sculpture was constructed in collaboration with dyker Kevin Shaw and engineer and Steve Husband.
