The sculpture (which is mounted on a mooring structure called a dolphin) comprises an arrangement of vertically and horizontally oriented galvanised steel rods forming a globular mass. Attached to the ends of some of the rods are red disks, which form lines marking the route of Sir Francis Drake’s circumnavigation voyage in 1577–1580.
