The memorial consists of a simple, stocky tapering plinth resting on a narrower base, and with two lateral channels at two-thirds height. On the front of the plinth is a roundel with the Chindits Badge, and at the back a roundel with a portrait of General Wingate, wearing a pith helmet. At the top of the memorial is a free-standing figure of a Chinthe, or Burmese temple guardian. The memorial stands on three generous steps.
