Donald Manson was the master of several Peterhead whalers, the 'Union' (1815–1816), the 'Superior' (1817–1841 and 1844–1847), and the 'Brilliant' (1855). He subsequently served as Harbourmaster at Peterhead from 1856 to 1874.
