Beginning their careers in the Swinging Sixties, Wharton, Ward and Seymour captured icons such as Michael Caine, Julie Christie and Germaine Greer at the outset of their careers. From the mid-1960s until the early 1990s Michael Ward worked for the 'Sunday Times', where he met Bryan Wharton, another of the star photographers who helped raise the visual impact of the paper, under the editorship of Harold Evans. As photographer for 'Scene' magazine, Seymour chronicled many of the leading players of the time before pursing a career in the film industry. The three photographers were captured here at the opening of the National Portrait Gallery display 'Sixties Style'.
