A drawing of a female figure with text describing notions of fear and desire. Body Types 1 and 2 date from 1982, the year following the BLK Art Group's exhibition Black Art An' Done at Wolverhampton Art Gallery. Like many of Piper's works of this period, this pair of drawings combines images and text. Body Types 1 and 2 are amongst several works that explore power relationships and the objectification of the black body. The black male and female figures are presented naked and with only part of their heads visible, suggesting an incomplete identity. The text around each of the figures describes notions of fear and desire.
