A series of 50 individual collages (25 portrait and 25 landscape orientation) of hairstyles taken from black hair magazines and pasted on to coloured paper. The series suggests the wide ranging and diverse approaches to black female style and self-presentation, within the context of debates and pressures around the politics of African hair.
The collages also play on the changeability of what is seen, drawing on the amorphous sculptural shapes created by plaiting, pinning, weaving and perming hair.
