'This design features a Union Jack rendered in the colours associated with the Pan-African flag, devised by Marcus Garvey in 1920. I was looking for a way to graphically represent the assertion, that the story of Black people in Britain, is fundamentally British history. That British imperialism, colonialism, slavery and migration, and our connections to the Americas and Africa, are fundamentally a part of the Empire narrative. From early Britain to the industrial revolution, and our post-war recovery.' (Greg Bunbury)
