Artist born in Birmingham who did a foundation course at Bournville College of Art, 1984–5; gained his bachelor’s degree in fine art at Ruskin School of Fine Art, Oxford, 1985–8; with a higher diploma at Slade School of Fine Art, 1988–90. Won a Laura Ashley Scholarship in 1989; a Boise Travel Scholarship, 1990; and a LAB Individual Artist Award, 1994. Late in 1995 was an artist-in-residence at Camden Arts Centre, with a subsequent show there. Other exhibitions included Into the Nineties 2, Mall Galleries, 1990; shared show at Diorama Gallery, 1992; Tight at The Tannery, Bermondsey, and Turning Up at The View, Liverpool, both 1994; and shared show at Anna Bornholt Gallery, 1995. In 1999, Wilson’s projects Library and Puddle at Harris Museum, Preston, earned national press coverage.
