Painter in oil, pastel and watercolour and miniaturist. Studied at Heatherley’s School of Fine Art with Henry Gibbs Massey as well as with the miniature painter Alfred Praga. Exhibited RSM, SWA, SM of which she was a member, RA and Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool. She did work for Queen Mary and published several volumes of poetry. Miss Thornton occupied one of the famous Meadow Studios at Bushey, Hertfordshire.
