Chiefly self-taught artist in oil, watercolour and mixed media, born in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. Her main career was as a medical secretary, although did some art school teaching. Thomson was influenced by a wide range of artists, ranging from J M W Turner through Impressionism to Kurt Schwitters, informed by a large personal art library. She was a member of RUA, Ulster Society of Women Artists, Watercolour Society of Ireland and Ulster Watercolour Society. Extensive mixed shows included Fermanagh Artists, Town Hall, Enniskillen (where she settled), 1971; Shambles Art Gallery, Hillsborough, 1981; Gordon Gallery, Londonderry, from 1984; and Jonathan Swift Gallery, Carrickfergus, 1992. Later solo shows included Gordon Gallery, 1984.
