Painter influenced by Old Masters, especially the Venetian School, in his use of colour, who was born in Northampton, attended the School of Art there and then Institute of Education in London. Served in the Army and spent 18 months in Venice. Was art master at Salford Grammar School and chairman of Salford Arts Committee, 1951–3. Exhibited at MAFA and elsewhere in Lancashire. Manchester City Art Gallery has his oil Playing Fields, 1953, Salford Art Gallery The Chip Shop, 1952.
