Painter, sculptor, draughtsman and teacher, son of Lord Robbins, author of the Report on Higher Education, 1963. After education at Dauntsey’s, studied English at New College, Oxford, and part-time at Goldsmiths’ College and Slade School of Fine Art, his tutor Clive Gardiner (he helped organise the Gardiner memorial show at South London Art Gallery, 1967). Following part-time preparatory school, Camberwell School of Art and Hornsey College of Art teaching, 1952–71, was then full-time at Hornsey/Middlesex University until 1993, when he retired as honorary fine art professor. His many group exhibitions included RA Summer Exhibition, John Moores Liverpool Exhibition and LG. From 1960 held many solo shows, later ones including The Studio, Bruton Place, and Peter Nahum, both 1996; Gallery 26, Highgate Literary and Scientific Institution and Town Mill, Lyme Regis, all 1997; Highgate Fine Art and Highgate Gallery, both 2000 and 2004; and Hutson Gallery, 2004.
