Artist in oil, pastel and gouache, born in Kirkwall, Orkney, who dealt with “traditional subject matter, treated in a realistic manner with a strong emphasis on contrasting colour and bold pattern”. He studied at Glasgow School of Art, 1968–72, taught by David Donaldson, Alexander Goudie, James Robertson, Duncan Shanks and Leon Morrocco. Robb taught art in secondary and primary schools until in 1989 he gave up to concentrate on his own work. Was a member of SSWA. Group shows included RSA, RSW, Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Kingfisher Gallery in Edinburgh, 1990, Gatehouse Gallery in Glasgow, 1992, and Catto Gallery, 1996. Had a solo exhibition at Gatehouse, 1994. HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Gracefield Art Gallery in Dumfries and the Dumfries and Galloway Educational Trust hold examples.
