Sculptor in stone of stylised figurative works, examples being The Enfolding, 1985, commissioned by the council for Coventry and eventually sited in the city’s Peace Garden there; and In the Stillness, 1995, made for the University of Warwick’s science park. Among other pieces by Parker in the Midlands is The Eye of the Needle, at St Augustine’s School, Kenilworth, 2000. She was originally a teacher of religious education, an influence detectable in her work. Parker studied for a degree in fine art at Lanchester Polytechnic, Coventry, 1982–6, then gained a diploma in printmaking at Mid-Warwickshire College of Art, Leamington Spa, 1988–90, and her master’s in art, 1988. Parker honed her cutting skills in Italy and England, notably at Canterbury and Liverpool Cathedrals, and held sculpture workshops.
