Painter and teacher, born in Nottingham, where he attended the School of Art, then Slade School of Fine Art, 1935–7. Taught at Scarborough School of Art, 1937–9, Portsmouth College of Art, 1946–52, and was principal of Winchester School of Art, 1953–76. Exhibited at RA, NEAC, Ash Barn Gallery in Petersfield and elsewhere. Randolph Schwabe and Allan Gwynne-Jones were influences. Lived latterly at Hampstead Norris, near Newbury, Berkshire.
