Landscape and portrait painter, born at Battle, Sussex. Entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1881 and won Creswick Prize the following year. From 1883 exhibited at RA, sometimes signing work just HAO, having other showings at RP, RBA, Ridley Art Club, RHA, and one-man exhibitions at RI, Fine Art Society and Grafton Galleries. Silver medal at Paris Salon, 1922. Was an Official War Artist during World War I. Lived in London.
