Painter, especially of still lifes and flower pieces; teacher. Was born at Bankshead, Brampton, Cumberland, the only daughter of the artists Ben and Winifred Nicholson. She attended Bath Academy of Art, 1949–54, after which she taught for two years at Totnes High School. She had visited Cornwall and in 1956 settled in St Ives. She worked there, at Bankshead and regularly visited Greece. As well as showing with Penwith Society from 1956, Kate Nicholson was included in the Arts Council tour Six Young Painters in 1961 and The Nicholsons, Crane Kalman, 1983. Solo shows included Waddington Galleries, Marjorie Parr Gallery and LYC Museum and Art Gallery, Brampton, 1981. Arts Council holds her work.
