Painter, draughtsman and teacher, born in Edinburgh, where she studied at the College of Art. Her teachers included John Busby and William Baillie. Further studies after graduation with honours in drawing and painting included Lorenzo de Medici School of Art in Florence, Italy, and Moray House, Edinburgh. From 1987 she taught art at Daniel Stewart’s & Melville College in the city. In that year Melrose gained an Andrew Grant Bursary. Group shows included Summer Exhibition, Peter Potter Gallery, Haddington, 1986; Wildlife Exhibition, Kingfisher Gallery, Edinburgh, 1989; Aberdeen Artists’ Society Summer Exhibition, Loomshop Gallery, Lower Largo, 1992; and Royal Over-Seas League Open, 1996. Had a solo show at Kingfisher Gallery, 1996, Journey of the Birds.
