Figurative painter, born in Troon, Ayrshire, who worked as a graphic artist from 1979–96. His output mixed imagination with reality, with a touch of the surreal. Group shows included Hanover Fine Art, Edinburgh, 1984; Anthony Hepworth, Bath, 1992–3; Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, 1994; and Thompson’s Gallery, from 1996. Among his later solo shows were the Leith Gallery, Edinburgh, from 1995, and Albemarle Gallery, 2002 and 2004. Standard life, Baillie Gifford and William Grant & Sons Ltd held examples.
