Painter and teacher, born in Kilmaurs, Ayrshire. Studied at Glasgow School of Art, 1890–6, under Fra Newbery, then in Paris for a year. He continued to live in Glasgow, taught for many years at the School of Art and was a member of Glasgow Art Club. Exhibited RSA extensively, also at Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Paris Salon and in the English provinces. Art galleries in Southport, Paisley and Glasgow hold his work.
