Toynbee Hall
Sculptor in various materials and teacher, born in Shillong, Assam, India, educated in London. She studied at Royal College of Art, 1928–32, teachers including Henry Moore, Herbert Palliser and Richard Garbe. She qualified as a state registered nurse in 1945 at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, then taught sculpture at Sir John Cass School of Art and City of London Polytechnic, 1946–75. Showed at RA and elsewhere. Jukes was a fellow of RBS from 1948 and a member of the SPS. Lived in London.
