Albert Carl Christian Jahn [also known as A.C.C. Jahn] was born in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England on 10 April 1865 and was the son of Ludwig Louis Hartmann Adalbert Jahn (c.1839-1911), a German-born art director, china painter and designer. After attending Hanley School of Art in Stoke-on-Trent, he studied at the National Art Training Schools in South Kensington, London where he was awarded a travelling scholarship. He subsequently worked as a jewellery designer, art metalworker, enameller and painter. He also taught, and from c.1890 to 1905 was headmaster of Wolverhampton Municipal School of Art and Crafts and, from 1905 to 1925, at Sheffield School of Art. Between 1898 and 1901 he exhibited at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
