Technical draughtsman and illustrator. Apprenticed originally as an engraver, he studied at Harrow School of Art. Eventually moved to the art department of Hulton Press. Although Hurford showed at RA, his best-known work was the exploded drawings in the centre spreads of the children’s comic Eagle. He also illustrated for Farmers Weekly and as a freelance drew for books by round-the-world sailors such as Alec Rose and Francis Chichester. He lived at Harrow Weald, Middlesex.
