Painter, calligrapher and teacher, born in Cowdenbeath, Fife. He studied at Edinburgh College of Art, 1932–7, under Herbert Hendrie. He took part in war artists’ exhibitions in London in World War II, from which official purchases of watercolours were made. Also showed RSA, SSA, RSW and in Arts Council exhibitions. For some time taught at the High School in Kirkcaldy, Fife, where he lived.
