
Painter, muralist and teacher, working with a bright palette and a bold, firm style. He studied history at Oxford University, 1946–8, and art at Ruskin School of Drawing in Oxford, 1946–9. Between 1956–84 did a large volume of part-time teaching, including Ruskin School, Bath Academy and Morley College. He was deputy Ruskin Master and head of fine art at Oxford University, 1974–80, being acting Ruskin Master in 1976, devising the degree course in fine art. Also did summer school work in Britain and abroad. Completed murals for The Blue Lion in Fen Ditton, 1958, and for Barclays Bank in Guildford, 1968. Took part in mixed shows at RA, LG, John Moores Liverpool Exhibition and elsewhere. Had a solo show at Piccadilly Gallery, 1955, later ones including Nelson Rockefeller Collection, New York, 1986, Clarendon Gallery, 1987–90, and Cadogan Contemporary, 1993.
