Painter, born in Aberdeen, who studied at Edinburgh College of Art, 1973–7, with a postgraduate year in 1977–8. In 1982 he won a Scottish Arts Council Young Artists Bursary. Among group shows Durward participated in the Scottish Arts Council’s Scottish Art Now show in 1982, and his one-man exhibitions included 369 Gallery, Edinburgh, 1979 and 1981. He also did some film work. Durward’s work pursued an Expressionistic form, at the same time adopting a strong vein of Post-Cubism. Lived in Edinburgh.
