Artist, born in Scotland, who was based in Edinburgh. He studied at Telford College there, for a National Diploma in Art and Design, 1990–2; gained a fine art honours degree at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen, 1992–6; then his master’s at Winchester School of Art, 1999–00. Won a Coopers & Lybrand Art Award, 1995; a John Lewis Partnership commission, 1999; and The Cross Trust Award for Postgraduate Studies, 2000. Group shows included RSA Student Exhibition and New Scottish Graduates, Art Exposure Gallery, Glasgow, both 1996; SSA at RSA, 1998; and in 2000 both Rates of Change, Diorama Gallery, and Big Small New, Houldsworth Fine Art. At Houldsworth, Craik presented work from his Constructional Elements series; using photographs of the fronts and features of skyscrapers, he cropped images and remade them into new structures.
