Artist in variety of media, latterly with an interest in stained glass, born in Sheffield, Yorkshire. She studied with Eric Jones at the College of Art there and at Slade School of Fine Art under William Coldstream, Lucian Freud, Thomas Monnington and Graham Sutherland. Between about 1960 and 1988 Braithwaite stopped painting while raising a family, resuming after her husband’s death. Showed at ICA, Beaux Arts Gallery, Zilla Bell in Thirsk and Brantwood Gallery, Coniston, having solo exhibitions at Old School Workshops, Middleham, and at Swaledale Festival, North Yorkshire. Arts Council holds her work. Lived in Horsehouse, Leyburn, North Yorkshire.
